Muzaffarabad (Neelum News) – President of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Shah Ghulam Qadir, raised a strong voice on the floor of the Legislative Assembly regarding the deteriorating condition of the Leswa Bat Kharak to Takkian link road in District Neelum. He presented an attention notice and expressed serious concern over the matter.
He stated that from 2011 to 2016, 2 kilometers of the road were initiated, followed by another 3 kilometers from 2016 to 2021 under the PML-N government. However, even after 14 years, the 5-kilometer stretch remains incomplete. He termed the delay unacceptable and demanded a transparent investigation into the irregularities by forming an official committee.
Shah Ghulam Qadir pointed out that the road is in extremely poor condition—no protective walls have been built, and the road remains uncarpeted. If payments have been made to the contractors, the public deserves to know how and under what circumstances these funds were disbursed. He warned that the current state of the road poses a serious risk to public safety and could lead to fatal accidents at any time.
He urged the Minister for Public Works to conduct a thorough inquiry and report in the next assembly session explaining why the road remains unfinished even after more than a decade.
In response, the Minister for Public Works assured the house that the matter would be investigated and findings would be shared in the upcoming session.
